Electrician and contractor
What usually wins the job is who quotes first.
- Leave the client with a drawing and a figure the same day instead of coming back in a fortnight
- Cable length comes from the route on the plan, so you order what will actually go in rather than what a rate of thumb produced
- The board is laid out to the nearest module before you drive out for the enclosure
- Price per mounting point or per labour hour, on your own rates
Installation designer
Documentation stops being four files you have to keep in step.
- Technical description, circuit table and single-line diagram all come from the same model
- A change to a circuit travels through every document at once, with no hunting for where else that number lived
- Every circuit carries the reason behind its cross-section, so you check a decision instead of redoing the arithmetic
- The drawing exports to DWG and DXF, so further work in your own CAD stays open
Architect and developer
The client asks about smart home in the meeting, not a fortnight after it.
- The system reads architectural and electrical designs, so you start from a file you already have
- Price electrical equipment and smart home devices straight from the design and give the figure on the spot
- Design a repeatable apartment type once and copy it, instead of redrawing each one
- Compare finish standards as variants, because cost comes from the same model
Building your own home
You do not need to draw to know what you want.
- Plan sockets and lighting room by room, on your own floor plan
